From the free nursery slopes close to the village at 2100m to the top of the famous Grand Motte glacier at 3656m, there is wonderful terrain for everyone. Lifts from the centre of Tignes Le Lac and Tignes Lavachet take you up to the ridge above Val d’Isere in one direction and to the spectacular “eye of the needle” rock in the other. From here whether you’re looking for steep and deep or wide and easy the choices are many. Of course a visit to Tignes would not be complete without a trip on the train through the mountain and then higher still to the top of the Grand Motte glacier. Up here at over 3500m on fresh powder, skiing does not get much better.
